Adding External Memo to CustomBooks™ Document Print Forms

Adding External Memo on Document Print Forms

Overview

CustomBooks™ allows you to add an External Memo field to document print forms. The External Memo, also referred to as Notes/Comments, allows you to enter notes or comments on a document that will be displayed when the document is printed.

You can enter an External Memo from the document screen by navigating to:

Document Screen (Ex: Sales Invoice) → Memo Tab → External Memo

The External Memo can be added to both default and custom print form templates.

Adding External Memo to a Default Template

Every form type in CustomBooks™ has a system default template. You can add the External Memo field on the default template from the Print Form Template Settings.

  1. Navigate to Admin Panel → Print Form Setting.
  2. On the Default templates folder, locate the document type where you want to add the External Memo, such as Sales Invoice.
  3. Select the document template and click Edit.
  4. Click the Fields tab.
  5. Check the External Memo checkbox.
  6. Click Save and Close.

Once added, the External Memo entered on the document will be available to print on the selected document form.

Default Template Placement

When the External Memo is added on a default template, CustomBooks™ automatically places the field in its predefined/default cell on the print form.

The External Memo field cannot be moved to another cell or location on the default template. Users cannot select a different cell where the External Memo should be displayed.

Adding External Memo to a Custom Template

Custom print form templates allow you to choose where the External Memo appears on the printed document.

To add the External Memo field to a custom template:

  1. From the Custom Template list, double-click the template you want to edit.
  2. In the template designer, place your cursor in the cell where you want the External Memo to appear.
  3. Click the Fields tab.
  4. Under the Document tab, locate the External Memo field.
  5. Double-click External Memo to add the field to the selected cell.
    1. Or you can drag field into the desired cell or location.
  6. Position or format the field as needed.
  7. Click Save and Close.

Unlike a default template, a custom template allows you to select the cell or location where the External Memo field will appear.
