Customizing Columns in the Companies (Customer/Vendor) List View

In CustomBooks™, you can customize the columns in the Companies List View to display the information most relevant to you. By default, the Companies List View shows columns such as Code, Company Name, Type (Customer, Vendor, or C/V), Consignee, Balance, and Price Level. You can adjust these columns by moving, removing, or adding new ones based on your needs.

Default Columns


The default columns shown on the CustomBooks™ Companies List View are:

  • Code
  • Company Name
  • Type (Customer, Vendor, or C/V)
  • Consignee
  • Balance
  • Price Level


These columns can be customized to show additional information or to hide details that are not needed.

The Columns Drop-down Button


The Columns drop-down button is located at the top of the Companies List View, in the yellow command bar. This button allows you to:

  • Add recommended columns like 1099 Vendor, A/R account, A/P account, Inactive, Income account, Notes, Stripe ID (if connected to Stripe), and Website.
  • Manage columns to customize your view.
  • Restore column settings back to default.



Managing Columns


The Manage Columns window provides several options for customizing your columns. Here’s how to perform common tasks:

Add Columns

  1. Click the Columns drop-down button and select Manage Columns.
  2. In the Manage Columns window, click the Show available fields button to display additional columns you can add.
  3. Select the field you want to add as a column, then click Move to List > to add it.
  4. Click Done to save your changes.


Set the Title or Display Name of Columns

  1. Click the Columns drop-down button and select Manage Columns.
  2. In the Manage Columns window, double-click the Title column next to the field you wish to rename.
  3. Enter the new title or display name for the column.
  4. Click Done to save your changes.


Move Columns

  1. Click the Columns drop-down button and select Manage Columns.
  2. In the Manage Columns window, select the column you wish to move.
  3. Click the UP arrow to move the column to the left or the DOWN arrow to move it to the right.
  4. Click Done to save your changes.


Hide Columns

  1. Click the Columns drop-down button and select Manage Columns.
  2. In the Manage Columns window, select the columns you want to hide.
  3. Uncheck the Show/Visible column (indicated by an eye icon) to hide it. Recheck the column if you wish to make it visible again.
  4. Click Done to save your changes.


Remove Columns

  1. Click the Columns drop-down button and select Manage Columns.
  2. In the Manage Columns window, select the column you want to remove.
  3. Click the <Remove button to remove it from the list.
  4. Click Done to save your changes.



Tips

  • Use the Search box in the top-right corner of the Manage Columns window to quickly find a field.
  • If you’ve just created a custom field, click the Refresh button to update the available fields and show the new custom field.



By customizing your columns, you can adjust the Companies List View to show exactly what you need, making it easier to manage and track your customers and vendors.
