Welcome to the CustomBook™'s Cloud Payroll module! Our seamless onboarding wizard will walk you through setting up and managing payroll for your company. Our onboarding wizard will allow you to monitor your progress and see which steps have been completed and which require further action. Let's get started.
Add Company Address Locations
- Easily add all relevant company address locations. You can mark each address as the mailing address, filing address, or both, as applicable.
Complete Federal Tax Information
We strongly encourage utilizing Form CP575 when completing this section!
- Enter the Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN).
- Specify the taxpayer type (e.g., C-corporation, S-corporation, sole proprietor, LLC, LLP, etc.).
- Select the federal filing form (941 or 944).
- Provide the legal entity name.
Industry
- A prepopulated list will allow you to choose the industry your company operates in.
Connecting a bank account can either be completed instantaneously via our Plaid integration or manually by providing the account details.
- Manually: Enter the routing number and account number. Microdeposits will be made to the account within a few business days, and these amounts will then be verified to ensure they match (see the "Bank Verification" section for more information).
- Automatically: Use our Plaid integration to connect your bank account quickly and securely.
Adding employees can either be completed manually via the Payroll Admin or self-onboarded by each employee. If self-onboarding is chosen, the status of each employee can be monitored within the application. Via Payroll Admin:
Collect the following information:
- Personal Info: Name, Social Security Number (SSN).
- Work Info: Start date, compensation details.
- Tax Details: Filing status.
- Banking Info: Account number.
- I-9 Form: Keep it handy for verification.
Self-Onboarding:
- Provide the employee's email address. An email invitation will be sent to the employee for self-onboarding.
This section allows you to:
- Set the pay frequency (e.g., weekly, bi-weekly, monthly).
- Specify the first pay date for the payroll cycle and the first pay period end date.
In this section you will list any states where your company will file taxes and provide all necessary state-specific tax information.
The company signatory will need to sign the following documents so that we may act on your behalf, allowing you to spend more time doing the things you love.
Direct Deposit Authorization
- This document authorizes CustomBook™ to debit and credit your bank account and to file and pay your taxes.
Form 8655: Reporting Agent Authorization
- This form authorizes us to pay and file federal taxes on your behalf.
Once everything has been completed, you will submit the account for review. We will then review everything on our end, and, provided everything looks good, your account will be approved. At this point you'll be able to access the Cloud Payroll feature to run and approve payroll! Should you need any assistance, our support team is here to help. Happy payroll processing!
