How to Format List Items in the Companies List View in CustomBooks™

In CustomBooks™, you can customize the appearance of items in the Companies List View to make your data easier to read and manage. For instance, you can bold all companies that are vendors or highlight balances in red.

Steps to Format List Items in the Companies List View


  1. Access the Companies List View:
    • Navigate to Lists > Companies to view all companies.
    • For a filtered list, go to Lists > Customers for customers only or Lists > Vendors for vendors only.
  2. Open the Configure List Tool:
    • In the yellow command bar, click the Settings drop-down button and select Configure List.



  3. Add a New Conditional Appearance Item:
    • Go to the Conditional Appearance tab and click Add to create a new conditional appearance item.



  4. Configure the Conditional Appearance Item:
    The conditional appearance item has three tabs to customize:
    • Format Tab: Define how the item/field will look when the condition is met. You can modify:
      • Font style (e.g., bold, italic).
      • Text color.
      • Visibility or accessibility settings.
    • Condition Tab: Set the criteria that must be met to apply the formatting.
    • Formatted Items/Fields Tab: Choose the specific items or fields (e.g., Code, Company Name) where the format will be applied.


Example: Bold Text for All Vendors

Here’s how to bold the text for vendors in the Companies List View:
  1. Format Tab:
    • Font Style = Bold


  2. Condition Tab:
    • Left Value = Vendor
    • Comparison Type = Equal To
    • Right Value = YES


  3. Formatted Items/Fields Tab:
    • Select Code, Company Name, Type, and Balance.


Result: If the company is a vendor, the text for the Company Code, Company Name, Type, and Balance will appear in bold.


  1. Click OK and Finish Editing to save the conditional appearance item.


Tips:

  • You can create multiple formatting rules to customize the appearance further.
  • Use the Conditional Appearance feature to highlight critical data like overdue balances or inactive accounts.
  • Experiment with different formats to make your lists more functional and visually clear.

This feature allows you to adapt the Companies List View to your preferences, ensuring essential details stand out.
