  1. Create an account at Zapier.com. There are both free and paid plans available.
  2. Click the Make a Zap button makeazap
  3. Search for  the application that you’d like to have as the trigger application in the search box and select it. 
  4. Click the Connect button.   
  5. Once you’ve connected the trigger application, choose a trigger from the provided list and click Save and Continue.
  6.  Choose an account to connect and click Connect. An authorization window may appear and may ask you to log in to the application. If you do not have an account with the application, you will have the option to create a new account by clicking Connect a New Account. You must create a new account to continue to the next step. To test to ensure that Zapier can access the account you may click the Test Account button.
  7. Click Save and Continue.
  8. You will be asked to test the trigger and will need to go to the application and complete the action that is the trigger in that app.   Once complete, click Fetch and Continue.
  9. Once the trigger has been tested successfully, click the Continue button and search for and select  CustomBooks™ as the action application.
  10. Choose an available action (Create Service, Create Product, Create Salesperson, Create Customer).
  11. Click Save and Continue and choose the your CustomBooks™ account from the list. If you have not previously connected CustomBooks™ to Zapier, click the Connect New Account button. You will need your CustomBooks™ ID (your email), password and Account number (the seven digit number found in the URL when logged in) to connect. Click Save and Continue.
  12. Set up the template. This is the step where you tell Zapier where to put the fields in CustomBooks™ that have been received by the trigger app. Each field will have a dropdown list that presents the field choices.  Map each field with the data desired and click Continue.
  13. Test the trigger in the last step. If it was successful you should see the example item in CustomBooks™!
