CustomBooks™ does not currently support item variations as a built-in feature. However, this functionality is on the roadmap for future development. In the meantime, you can use the following workarounds to manage item variations like size, color, or flavor in your inventory.
Workaround 1: Creating Separate Items
You can manage item variations by creating copies of the item and modifying the details for each variation. For example, if you sell a shirt in multiple sizes, you can create separate items like "Shirt - Small," "Shirt - Medium," and "Shirt - Large."
Steps to Create Item Variations:
Navigate to Inventory > Items.
Select an existing item to use as a base or create a new item.
Copy the item by clicking Create > Copy and adjust details such as size, color, or other variation attributes.
Save each variation as a separate item with its own SKU or item code.

Workaround 2: Using Lots for Item Characteristics
Alternatively, you can manage variations by creating item characteristics using the Lots feature. This approach allows you to assign characteristics (like size or color) without creating separate SKUs or item codes.
Steps to Use Lots for Item Characteristics:
Enable the Lots feature by navigating to Admin Panel > Inventory Settings and checking the Lots and Serial Numbers box.
Create characteristics such as size, color, or flavor by navigating to Lists > Characteristics and adding values (e.g., Small, Medium, Large).
Assign the characteristics to items by enabling Use Lots for the item and selecting the relevant characteristics.

While CustomBooks™ does not yet support item variations directly, these workarounds provide effective methods for managing inventory with variations. Use separate items for more detailed tracking or the Lots feature for a streamlined approach. Stay tuned for future updates as item variation functionality is developed!
