Modifying Your Payroll Schedule

Modifying Your Payroll Schedule

Editing your payroll schedule in CustomBooks™ ensures that your payroll process is accurate and up-to-date. The schedule will be set up during the onboarding process but can be modified at any point in time. Currently, only one payroll schedule can be setup per account. If you need to edit the payroll schedule, follow the steps outlined below.
  1. Navigate to Payroll > Payroll Schedule. This will open a tab showing you the current payroll schedule. To make changes, select the "Edit" button.
  2. Update any fields that need to be changed.
    1. Name -- Provide a name for your pay schedule, if desired.
    2. Pay frequency -- Choose from a list of options that include:
      1. Every week
      2. Every other week
      3. Twice a month: 15th & last day of the month
      4. Twice a month: custom (if choosing this option, two new fields will appear to select the two dates to be used)
      5. Monthly: last day of the month
    3. First pay date -- Use the calendar selector to enter the first date your employees will be paid.
    4. Deadline to run payroll -- This read-only field calculates when the first payroll needs to be completed by. This date will account for the payroll processing time and any holidays/ non-business days.
    5. First pay period end date -- Use the calendar selector to enter the last date of the first pay period. This will help determine future pay periods. It can be the same date as the first pay date, if needed.

  3. Using the link at the bottom of the page, preview upcoming paydays to confirm that everything looks accurate.
  4. Select "Save & continue" once you are ready to apply the new pay schedule.
Transition payroll

If you change your pay schedule, you might have to run a special transition payroll. A transition payroll lets you pay employees for any workdays that fall during the gap between the last day of an old pay schedule and the first day of a new schedule.

By following these steps, you can efficiently manage and edit your payroll schedules in CustomBooks™. For further assistance, please contact our support team.
