Updating Test Company/Sandbox to Live Data

The Sandbox/Test Company

With each paid account, CustomBooks™ offer you a second account that can be used for testing, training or just checking out new features without having to worry about affecting your live account. This “Test Company” or “Sandbox” is provided at no cost and can be used right away.

How to Update the Sandbox/Test Account to Live Data?

1. On the CustomBooks™ Home Page, click Test Company. If it's your first time to access Test Company/Sandbox it will take time to update (approximately 15-30 minutes). If you already accessed it before, just click Continue button to proceed.






2. A new tab will open showing your Test Company/Sandbox. You can identify the difference between a LIVE account and a SANDBOX account by looking at the top-left corner of the screen where it says "***Test Company/Sandbox***" and the Test Company/Sandbox has a different color to differentiate from your real company at glance.

From the Test Account/Sandbox Home Page, Click the "Reset from your Live Account" button and the Test Company/Sandbox will copy all of your data from your Live account.




3. You'll get the message below. Click Continue to proceed.

NOTE: Updating the Test Company/Sandbox to live data will PERMANENTLY ERASE ALL of your Test Company/Sandbox data and replace it with the data from your live account.
  1. You and any other users logged in to the Test Company/Sandbox will be immediately logged out.
  2. The process may take up to 30 minutes or more depending on the size of your live data.
  3. You'll be notified by email when the new Test Company/Sandbox is ready for use.

      


 4. Wait for a notification through email. You'll receive an email as soon as the Test Company/Sandbox is ready to use.

In this video, we’re going to take a look at how you can access the Test Company in CustomBooks, and how you can reset it at any time.

Every CustomBooks account comes with a Test Company. You can open it from the homepage by clicking on the Test Company icon, or by going to the Admin Panel and selecting Test Company.

If this is the first time you’ve opened the Test Company, or if you’ve recently reset it, you may see a message that your Test Company is being built. Once that process is complete, you’ll receive an email letting you know it’s ready to use.

When we open the Test Company, you’ll notice right away that it looks a little different. The homepage doesn’t show the standard navigation icons, and the menu is highlighted in pink to make it clear you’re working in a test environment.

You can reset the Test Company at any time, and there are three options to choose from.

The first is Reset with live data, which rebuilds the Test Company using your current CustomBooks data. This is especially useful for training users or testing out transactions without affecting your live accounts.

The second option is Reset with test data. This loads in the same sample transactions used in the CustomBooks Academy training materials, so you can follow along with guided lessons right inside the Test Company.

The final option is Erase all data, which clears everything out and leaves you with a blank Test Company to work from.

And that’s it. The Test Company gives you a safe and flexible way to practice, train, and explore CustomBooks without impacting your live data.
