Reports Module in CustomBooks™

Overview


The Reports module in CustomBooks™ provides access to financial, sales, purchasing, inventory, banking, tax, and project-related reports. These reports help you review business activity, monitor financial performance, analyze transactions, and generate information needed for accounting and reporting purposes.

To access the available reports, select Reports from the left menu panel.


Report Categories


CustomBooks™ organizes reports into several categories based on the type of information they provide.

Tools

The Tools section provides general reporting and analysis tools that can be used to review business information and create customized reports.
  1. Business Pulse – Provides a high-level overview of key business and financial information.
  2. Report Packages – Provides collections of related reports that can be used together for recurring reporting needs.
  3. Universal Report – Provides a flexible way to generate reports using selected data and reporting criteria.
  4. Additional Reports – Provides access to other reports that do not fall under the standard report categories.

Bank

The Bank section provides reports for reviewing bank accounts, credit card activity, and payments.
  1. Bank and Credit Card Transactions – Displays transactions recorded for bank and credit card accounts.
  2. Vendor Payments – Provides details of payments made to vendors.
  3. Payment Register – Lists payment transactions and related payment details.
  4. Bank Account Balances – Displays balances for bank accounts within the selected reporting period.

Accounting

The Accounting section contains reports used to review general ledger activity and overall financial performance.
  1. General Ledger – Displays detailed transactions posted to general ledger accounts.
  2. Trial Balance – Shows the debit and credit balances of general ledger accounts.
  3. Balance Sheet Comparative – Compares balance sheet account balances across selected periods.
  4. Balance Sheet Standard – Presents the company's assets, liabilities, and equity balances for a selected period.
  5. Budget vs Actual Comparative – Compares budgeted amounts with actual results across selected periods.
  6. Budget vs Actual – Compares budgeted amounts with actual financial activity.
  7. Income Statement Comparative – Compares income and expense results across selected periods.
  8. Income Statement Standard – Summarizes revenues, expenses, and net income or loss for a selected period.
  9. Statement of Cash Flows – Shows cash inflows and outflows and how they affect the company's cash position.
  10. Vendors 1099 – Provides vendor payment information that can be used when reviewing 1099 reporting requirements.
  11. Tax Lines Export – Provides mapped tax line information for use in tax reporting and preparation.

Project & Time

The Project & Time section provides reports for reviewing employee time and project-related financial information.
  1. Time Tracking Detail – Displays detailed time entries recorded for employees or users.
  2. Project Financials – Provides financial information associated with projects.

Sales

The Sales section provides reports for analyzing receivables, sales activity, customers, and sales orders.
  1. A/R Aging – Shows outstanding customer receivables grouped by the age of the balances.
  2. Open Sales Orders by Item – Lists open sales orders organized by item.
  3. Sales by Item – Summarizes sales activity by item.
  4. Sales by Customer – Summarizes sales activity by customer.
  5. Sales by Representative – Shows sales activity associated with sales representatives.
  6. Consignment Sales – Provides information about sales involving consigned items.
  7. Dropship Sales – Displays sales transactions fulfilled through drop shipping.
  8. Days Sales Outstanding – Provides an indication of how long it takes to collect customer receivables.

Sales Tax

The Sales Tax section provides reports for reviewing sales tax liabilities.
  1. Sales Tax Liability – Shows sales tax amounts collected and the resulting sales tax liability for the selected period.

Purchases

The Purchases section provides reports for reviewing accounts payable, purchase orders, and vendor purchasing activity.
  1. A/P Aging – Shows outstanding vendor payables grouped by the age of the balances.
  2. Open Purchase Orders by Item – Lists open purchase orders organized by item.
  3. Purchases by Item – Summarizes purchasing activity by item.
  4. Purchases by Vendor – Summarizes purchasing activity by vendor.

Inventory

The Inventory section provides reports for monitoring inventory quantities, activity, valuation, locations, and serial numbers.
  1. Inventory Item Quick Report – Provides a quick summary of information for selected inventory items.
  2. Inventory Stock Status by Item – Shows inventory stock levels and status by item.
  3. Inventory Valuation – Provides the value of inventory based on the applicable inventory costing information.
  4. Item Activity Report – Displays transactions and activity associated with inventory items.
  5. Item Activity Report (previous version) – Provides access to the previous version of the Item Activity Report.
  6. Quantity on Hand by Location – Shows the quantity of inventory available at each location.
  7. Serial Numbers on Hand – Lists inventory currently on hand by serial number.
  8. Serial Numbers Sold – Provides details of inventory items sold and their associated serial numbers.

Using Reports


When you select a report, you can specify the available report parameters, such as the reporting period, accounts, customers, vendors, items, or other applicable criteria. The available options vary depending on the report.

Use the report filters to display the information relevant to your review. Reports can be used to analyze current activity, compare periods, monitor balances, and support accounting and business decisions.
