Overview
The Business Pulse dashboard in CustomBooks™ serves as your financial command center. It provides a real-time, visual snapshot of your company's health, allowing you to monitor sales trends, expense breakdowns, and bank balances at a glance without running complex reports.
How to Access Business Pulse
- Log in to your CustomBooks™ account.
- Navigate to the Home Page.
- Click on the Business Pulse link located in the top horizontal navigation menu, next to "Workspace."
- Alternatively, you can access the Business Pulse by going to Accounting → Under the Tools section, select Business Pulse.

Dashboard Components
The Business Pulse screen consists of four primary widgets designed to give you instant insight into key financial metrics.
Sales Overview
- A line graph tracking your sales revenue over a specific period.
- Key Insight: Use this to identify seasonal trends or sudden spikes in revenue.
- Interactivity: Hover over specific data points (diamonds) to see exact figures for that month.
- Settings: You can adjust the timeframe by clicking the calendar icon in the top right corner of the widget.

Expenses Breakdown
- A pie chart illustrating where your money is going.
- Key Insight: Quickly see which categories consume the largest portion of your budget.
- Visuals: The chart displays percentages for each category, helping you spot spending imbalances immediately.

Profit and Loss
- A visual summary of your Net Income.
- Key Components:
- Income: Total revenue generated.
- COGS: Cost of Goods Sold.
- Expenses: Operational costs.
- Net Income: The final profitability figure after deductions.
- Format: This uses a bar/waterfall chart style to visualize how expenses and COGS impact your total Income.

Bank Accounts
- A list of your connected bank accounts (e.g., Business Checking) and their current balances.
- Key Insight: Provides an immediate view of your cash on hand.
- Timestamps: Check the "Updated" date to ensure you are viewing the most recent sync data from your bank feed.

Located on the right-hand side of the Business Pulse dashboard, this menu provides one-click access to run and view essential financial reports.
- Bank Account Balances: Opens and runs the Bank and Credit Cards Transactions report, giving you a detailed history of all transactions across your connected financial institutions.
- Trial Balance: Opens and runs the Trial Balance Report, which lists the balances of all general ledger accounts to ensure debits and credits are equal at any given time.
- Income Statement: Opens and runs the Income Statement Comparative Report, allowing you to compare your revenue and expenses against previous periods to analyze profitability trends.
- Balance Sheet: Opens and runs the Balance Sheet Comparative Report, providing a side-by-side comparison of your assets, liabilities, and equity over different timeframes.
- Sales by Item: Opens and runs the Sales by Item Report, breaking down revenue by individual products or services to help identify your best-selling offerings.

Note: You can set the Business Pulse dashboard as your default landing page by checking the "Use as default" box in the top right corner of the screen.
