Admin Panel: General Settings

Overview


The General Settings in the CustomBooks™ Admin Panel allows you to configure fundamental system behaviors, ranging from how your currency is handled to the precision of your financial data.


How to Access General Settings

To modify these core configurations, navigate to:
  1. Admin PanelGeneral Settings.


Configuration Sections


Currency & Multi-Currency

  1. Default Currency: Your primary currency is displayed here.
    Note that the default currency cannot be changed if there are already saved documents in the General Journal; these must be marked as drafts first.

  2. Multi-currency: You can enable the use of multiple currencies in transactions.
    Attention: Once a new currency is added, this feature cannot be disabled.


Email Settings

  1. Automatic CC: You can opt to include specific email addresses in the CC field of all documents sent via CustomBooks™. Enter multiple addresses separated by commas.

Custom Fields

  1. Click the Custom Fields link to create and manage specialized data fields tailored to your business needs.

Lists Appearance

Toggle the Expand Grouped Lists and Documents switch.
  1. Grouping can also be managed at the individual list and document level under Settings Configure List.
  2. Enabling this automatically expands groups, though it may delay loading for very large datasets.


Unit of Measure (UoM)

  1. Select your default UoM set or click "Add UoM sets and units" to create new measurement types.



Precision (Decimals)

Specify the maximum number of decimals used across the platform:
  1. Quantity field decimals: Set the decimal limit for quantity fields.
  2. Price and Cost field decimals: Set the decimal limit for price and cost fields.


Attention: To maintain data integrity, the number of decimals cannot be decreased after transactions have been entered.

Reports

Default Report View Mode: Choose between Present or Analyze view.
  1. Present: This Report View is for presentation purposes and quickly prints to pdf. The Report is centered and always shows highest Report level, Total(s) and Variances. Please note: Export, Email and Drilldown(s) to Detail are done in Analyze View.
  2. Analyze: This Report View is for analyzing data. Drilldown(s) to Detail, Export, Print, Email, Formatting fields and Freezing/Unfreezing data are done here. All Settings are available.


Other Preferences

The Other section includes several toggle options for specific transaction behaviors:
  1. Discounts in Cash Receipt and Bill Payment: Enable or disable discount fields in Cash Receipts and Bill Payments documents.
  2. Allow negative amount for service items: Permit service items to have a negative value.
  3. Allow discounts on line items: Enable a dedicated discount column for individual line items within documents.
